The comment period runs from April 4 to May 4, 2012.

The upcoming budget, which becomes effective July 1, is more than $550,000, part of which is marked for several planning studies that coordinate transportation and land use in Kent County.

The Dover/Kent County MPO is federally required to have a written work program in accordance with the Safe, Accountable, Flexible and Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU). SAFETEA-LU is a federal law that authorizes federal surface transportation programs for highways, highway safety and transit.

The MPO’s policy-making body, the MPO Council, is scheduled to vote on the UPWP at its May 9 meeting, which will be held in the council chambers of Camden Town Hall. If approved, the budget goes to the Federal Highway Administration, the Federal Transit Administration and the Delaware Department of Transportation for review and approval.

Two of the new members fill open seats for Kent County Levy Court representation. Ed Maron of Dover is a budget analyst for the Delaware Transit Corporation. Kevin Yingling, also of Dover, is the Marketing Manager for the  Delaware Electric Cooperative. Levy Court appointed Mr. Maron and Mr. Yingling to the PAC in December. Rob Book of Milford also works for the Delaware Electric Co-op as assistant vice president of member services, and will serve as Mr. Yingling’s alternate to the PAC. Levy Court appointed him along with Mr. Yingling last month.
