Dover/Kent County Metropolitan Planning Organization Announces New Hires

DOVER, DE: The Dover/Kent County MPO has announced two new hires for the new fiscal year. The first is a replacement for an existing position, and the second is a new position. Helen Wiles will fill the existing position of Public Outreach Manager. Ms. Wiles comes from a diverse and comprehensive background that includes media sales, marketing, public relations, real estate and writing. She is very excited about her new home at the Dover/Kent MPO. “I am thrilled to be a part of this great organization. I’m looking forward to working with the public to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard at the planning table.”

Mike Ward will be the new GIS Planner for the MPO. This is a new position for the organization. Mr. Ward spent 38 years as a planner and in GIS with Kent County, and has won awards for mapping and graphics. “This is a tremendous opportunity to help guide the MPO into a new era with digital and web-based maps that will be interactive and very useful for the public.” says Mr. Ward.

This also reunites Mr. Ward with Reed Macmillan, executive director for the MPO. Mr. Macmillan has good things to say about both of the newcomers. “Mike (Ward) and I have worked together in the past and I know his energy and work ethic will serve us well. He’s also just a great guy to have around. Helen (Wiles) has just started but is already making the position of Public Outreach her own, and her ideas and enthusiasm will take her far in the organization.”

The Dover/Kent County Metropolitan Planning Organization is a federally funded not-for-profit that works with local, state and federal governments along with local transportation organizations to ensure that transportation planning and projects are done in compliance with Federal mandates to include the Federal Clean Air Act and the Safe Accountable Act for the 21st Century.
