Through funding from a federal Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) planning grant, the Dover Kent Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is developing a Safety Action Plan to guide future safety investments in Kent County. The plan will identify priority locations for safety improvements and offer recommendations for infrastructure, policy, and other measures to make the county’s roads safer for all road users.
Once completed, the Safety Action Plan will enable municipalities across Kent County to access additional funding to implement its recommendations. The plan is crucial to ensuring that Kent County’s transportation system is safer for drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, and all other road users.
As part of the effort to gather community input, the Dover Kent MPO is hosting a Public Workshop on Monday, January 13th, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Modern Maturity Center, located at 1121 Forrest Ave in Dover. The open house allows the public to share their thoughts and learn more about the project.
Attendees can stop by anytime during the event, with brief presentations offered shortly after 4:00 PM and again at 5:30 PM. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Participants are also encouraged to take a survey to share their feedback on areas in Kent County where they feel unsafe traveling. The survey is available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/7H6YL9B.
“We are working to make transportation safer in Kent County, and we need your input,” said Marilyn Smith, Executive Director of the Dover Kent MPO. “This workshop will allow the public to directly impact the safety improvements planned for our community.”
