There’s still time to sign up for Heels & Wheels
Date Posted: Friday, February 28th, 2014The Heels & Wheels Walk and Bike Summit is less than a month away, but lucky for you, there’s still time to register. Just go to Wilmapco.org and scroll down to the Heels & Wheels Summit information to register. The March 21 event is free! Our keynote speaker is the nationally renowned Dan Burden, an expert on creating communities for walk and bikability. After a great day of educational sessions and lunch, we’ll cap off the early spring day with a walk and bicycle ride around the Pomeroy Trail in Newark. So come one, come all to the Heels & Wheels Summit, March 21, 2014 at the University of Delaware’s Clayton Hall in Newark, Del. Office closed due to snow, please stay safe on the roads
Date Posted: Wednesday, January 22nd, 2014The Dover/Kent County MPO office is closed today due to weather. Business will re-open on Thursday, or when weather permits. Thank you! Delaware is under a state of emergency Level I driving restriction, which means drivers are discouraged from operating a motor vehicle unless there is a significant safety, health or business reason to do so. Stay safe!

Regional Bicycle Plan
Date Posted: Sunday, July 14th, 2013In September 2011, Dover Kent County Metropolitan Planning Organization adopted its Regional Bicycle Plan. The bike plan aims to create an effective, safe bicycle system in central Delaware. It shows where there are bicycle trails, lanes and similar facilities in central Delaware and where there are gaps in service. In addition, the plan addresses the need for bicyclists and motorists to share the road, increase recreational biking as well as encourage people to bike to work or school. The plan was the result of the MPO’s 2008 Regional Transportation Plan, in which public comments expressed a need for more bicycle facilities.
